Asus C200 Chromebook

Asus C200 Chromebook
The Asus Chromebook C200 ($ 249) is a basic laptop for PC users primarily access the Internet. Like other Chromebook, the C200 will get online and give you easy access to Google services such as Google Drive, Google Play Music, and YouTube. Moreover, you can also perform simple PC tasks, such as word processing and email. Just make sure that you have constant access to Wi-Fi, and you're golden. It is made well, cheap, and fun continued general use, but still think we have cellular access Chromebook make more sense for PC Web-centric.

Design and Features
The C200 measures a compact 0.8 by 12 by 8 inches (HWD) and weighs 2.59 pounds. It is certainly thinner and lighter than the Dell 11 Chromebook Acer Chromebook Choice C720P-2600 editors'. Like all Chromebook, proudly displays the logo C200 Google Chrome to its matte-black lid. Finish the top and bottom lids' attracts smudges and fingerprints, so keep handy a microfiber cloth if you are meticulous.

The painted aluminum keyboard has a standard layout Chromebook, with navigation and setting key F1-F12 replacing keys on a typical Windows laptop. Key feel is comfortable, and stroke register quickly. Good response from the multitouch touchpad also. No touch screen, but the Chrome OS is not optimized for the touch function.

Logging on to the system is as easy as entering your Google or Gmail username and password. If you have not created a Google account, the system will guide you through the process. Guest access is enabled out of the box, so that the system can lend to a friend and not have to worry about them snooping around your files.

The 11.6-inch 1366-by-768 LCD display is clear and bright enough to use in most indoor situations, including next to a sunlit window. However, narrow viewing angle means that the screen appears washed out or disconnected if you do not go to look at it. This is a consequence of using a lower quality panels to achieve the sub-$ 250 price. The screen is not horrible by any means, but the Editors' Choice HP Chromebook 11 (Verizon LTE) and its In-Plane Switching (IP) panel is a much better choice if the display quality is a priority for you.

I / O port selection is good for a Chromebook. There is an HDMI-out port, a headset jack, a Kensington security slot, an SD card reader, a USB 2.0 port, and a USB 3.0 port. The 802.11ac Wi-Fi in the C200 is more up-to-date than most 802.11n Chromebook or almost any sub-$ 350 notebook.

Sound from the internal speakers are clear and loud enough to fill a room or home office. It is noticeably better than the other major laptop, and is certainly enough for your kids to listen to music while studying or for watching streaming video.

There is 2GB of system memory and a 16GB solid-state drive (SSD) for local storage. That's not much, but as with all the Chromebook, you are expected to keep most of your file storage cloud-based servers Google or another service. You can increase local storage on an SD card or an external USB hard drive. All Chromebook will have 100GB of online storage Google Drive for two years. Also common are 12 free Gogo Internet will be forwarded to the airline (as long as you are logging on from your Chromebook), and there are other offers, such a trial subscription to the Music Unlimited service Google Play view.

As with all of the Chromebook, Web access key functionality of the system. All my Chrome OS apps and extensions, such as access to my stored music and Gmail, propagated in C200 after I logged in for the first time. However, you have to manually set up offline access to Google Docs and other programs in case you want to use it on a flat surface with no Gogo Internet or if you are off the grid. This is not an issue with Chrome OS-based desktop like Asus Chromebox M004U, but it can be a deal breaker on a Chromebook.
