Dell Inspiron 13 7000 Series 2-in-1

Dell Inspiron 13 7000 Series 2-in-1Do-hybrid laptop offers a happy medium for users who want the convenience of a tablet, but depending on the keyboard and touchpad to be their primary input device. With the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 ($ 799.99 as tested), you get the best of both worlds with a solid, metal-plated chassis featuring a full-size keyboard that folds back, allowing to use the system as a Windows-powered tablet. 13.3-inch display, In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel bright and bold colors and wide angle viewing and offer corresponds to the 10-point capacitive touch technology. The Inspiron 13 Intel's 7000 Core i5 processor delivers solid performance, but the 2-in-1 is a tad heavy for a 13-inch tablet.

Design and Features
The Inspiron 13 7000's sleek silver aluminum chassis has a solid look and feel. 0.8 by 12.9 by 8.7 inches (HWD), it is slightly thicker than the Lenovo Yoga 2 13 (0.6 inches) and 3.7 pounds, it's almost a full pound heavier than the 2.6-pound Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, but it is still portable enough for most travel situations.

The system is built around a beautiful full HD (1920-by-1080) IPS display with 10-point capacitive touch technology and edge-to-edge glass. Manage touch screen swiping, zooming, and scrolling motion with self-confidence, and the panel displays brilliant colors and dark blacks remained intact regardless of my viewing angle. I watched The Hunger Games: Tackle Fire (stream Netflix) and is considered sharp image detail and excellent color tone. The side-firing speakers embedded in the keyboard / base provide excellent volume, but the sound tinny due to a lack of bass response.

Such as the Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series 2-in-1, the Inspiron 7000 screen 13 is attached to a full-size keyboard with two very tough hinges with a 360-degree range of folding allowing you to use the device as a laptop or tablet. The keyboard also can be partially folded for use in Tent mode or modes Stand. The palm rest exterior matches the laptop and contains a chiclet-style keyboard with black keys and white lettering. The backlit keyboard is comfortable and responsive. The 4.0-by-2.5-inch multipoint touchpad is also responsive and provides plenty of room for Windows 8 motion. A stylus is stored on the right side of the chassis for users who want to take advantage of the pen functionality of Windows 8.1, and a 720p webcam embedded in the bezel above the display.

Connectors include two USB 3.0 ports, one of which is a Powershare port allows you to charge USB peripherals without powering up the laptop, a USB 2.0 port, an HDMI video output, a headphone jack, and an SD card reader. You do not get an Ethernet port on this model, but it offers a dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

The Inspiron 13 7000 is a 500GB, 5,400rpm hard drive in Windows 8.1 and an assortment of Dell utilities, including Backup and Recovery, PC checkup, and Digital Delivery. You also get 20GB of Dropbox storage and trial versions of McAfee and Microsoft Office 365. LiveSafe applies to Dell Inspiron 7000 with 13 one-year warranty that includes 90 days of premium phone support and a full year in homeless services (after remote diagnosis).

  1. Drops and shocks are common, even if you don't take your laptop with you to your day job at the oil rig. Life is full of jarring convergences of physical objects, so tests are run to make sure that rugged laptops will hold up. What happens when you drop a computer? Hard-disk failure for one. A broken LCD for another.
