Lenovo Z40

Lenovo Z40
Lenovo Z40 ($ 579) needs as a full-size, full-featured laptop for general use type you would expect from a Windows PC. Not to offend its middle-of-the-road style and comfortable keyboard anyone, but there's not much here to thrill either. The Z40 can help you get online, work at the office and multimedia files if necessary, and it probably is easily forgotten when the next laptop along to take its place.

Design and Features
A desktop-replacement laptop, the Lenovo Z40 is outfitted with a 14-inch screen. Like other mainline Lenovo laptop, looks purposeful and hard black-on-black style. The keyboard deck has a flash of style painted with black brushed metal look. The keyboard is not backlit, but it is quite comfortable, with sculpted convex keys that can help your typing speed and accuracy. Unfortunately, the touchpad below the space bar is a bit on the small side, the shelf talker sticker next to it is somewhat wider, although each is about 3.25 inches. The Z40 is the average for its size, about 0.97 by 13.75 by 9.75 (HWD) and 4.5 pounds.

The screen measures 14 inches and has a 1366-by-768 resolution, but offers no ability to touch. It is nominally enough for 720p HD, and we were able to play 720 HD videos from YouTube as well. Both the Acer Aspire M5-583P-6637 and Acer Aspire V5-573PG-9610 has larger 15-inch screen resolution 1366-by-768. Viewing angle on the screen is pretty narrow, but that is expected to be a moderately pinepresyuhan system. The problem is that the speakers play at a low level compared to other systems, such as the Editors Choice 'for entry-level desktop replacement laptop, the Lenovo Flex 2 (15-inch). You have to be very close to the Z40 in a quiet room to enjoy watching DVD or streaming movies, or use headphones.

The system is outfitted with a DVD burner, which is becoming an aging lips. It is good to have for when you need to access older data or movies, but it quickly becomes dead weight when you have to carry it around with you. More older technology shows up to choose the Z40 port: Ethernet, an HDMI port, two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, and VGA. We would prefer at least two USB 3.0 ports.

Bloatware is a minor issue. Much of it, but in the grand scheme of things, the 500GB hard drive with 8GB SSD cache is too free space available. Preloaded apps include AccuWeather, eBay, Evernote, Movies on TV, Kindle, Nitro Pro 9, Red Karaoke, Send It, and Zinio. As always, the service can be useful to you, but otherwise you will have to schedule an hour or so to get Rid of it. If you need to put the system back to a state outside of the box fast, you can access one-touch recovery by pressing the recessed button on the laptop. This will work even if the system is so broken that it can not boot into Windows at all. The Z40 has a standard one-year warranty.
