Asus Chromebook C300 (C300MA-DB01)
Acer Chromebook C300 ($ 249) is a reasonably priced Chrome OS laptop with relatively large 13.3-inch screen. It is a stablemate of 11-inch Asus C200 Chromebook, with an identical set of internal parts. If you need a simple, Web-bound system for daily activities, see C300. It is an all-day companion with excellent connectivity.
Design and Features
The modern-looking laptop with matte-black chassis and well-textured, faux-brushed-metal polycarbonate top lid and keyboard deck. Unfortunately, the appearance does not extend to the edge of the laptop, which looks a bit cheap shiny plastic. Fortunately, you do not need to consider the side unless plugged into the HDMI port on the peripheral system, headset jack, AC power adapter, SD card reader, single USB 2.0 port, or USB 3.0 port.
The chiclet-style keyboard is pleasant to use, such as wide touchpad supports multitouch gestures such as right click and two finger swipe. The system measures 0.8 by 13 by 9 inches (HWD) and weighs 2.87 pounds, so it's easy to carry around the house or at your favorite coffee shop. You can also fit into an airline tray cable to the coach to use the 12 free Gogo Inflight Internet coupons with the system. Offering other Google as a 60-day Google Play All Access subscription and 100GB of storage Google Drive (for two years) are also included. (With Google Drive Chrome-only Holiday special: free 1TB of storage for two years if you register before January 1)
You will need to cloud storage, since the C300 only has 16GB solid-state drive (SSD) and 2GB of system memory. The 16GB SSD is typical of most Chromebooks, although C720P Acer Chromebook offer in 2600 to double the system memory (4GB) and local storage (32GB) for around the same price. You can, of course, increase the local storage on an SD card, even if there is no way to increase the system memory that the C300.
The 13.3-inch screen with 1366-by-768 resolution, which is identical to the Asus C200 Chromebook and Windows budget ultraportables like the HP Stream 13 (13-c020nr). If you need more screen room, the Acer Chromebook 13 (CB5-311-T9B0) and the Toshiba CB35-B3340 Chromebook 2 both with 1920-by-1080-resolution display. This means that you can look at C300 720p video, but not 1080p HD without downscaling.
Display is of good quality, although like all LCD screen, it is not a wide viewing angle and not very clear as an In-Plane Switching (IPS) screen like the Editors' Choice HP Chromebook 11 (Verizon LTE ) and the Wi-Fi only sibling HP Chromebook 11. the C300 has a one-year warranty.
