Lenovo Edge 15

Lenovo Edge 15
The Lenovo Edge 15 (80H10004US) ($ 699.99 as tested) looks and plays a lot like its brother, the Editors' Choice Lenovo Flex 2 (15-inch) $ 619.00 Lenovo, but it midprice desktop-replacement laptop falls a bit short in performance and battery life. But even while it does not get our top recommendation, the Edge 15 $ 699.99 at Best Buy has still a lot of love, from the 300-degree hinge on its 1TB hard drive and 1080p touch screen.

Design and Features
The Edge 15 a lot in common with Flex lineup Lenovo, and is actually sold as Flex 2 Pro-15 in non-US markets. A 300-degree hinge allows multimode functionality, allowing you to use the 15-inch system as a laptop or flip the screen around to Display mode. Hinge has rubber feet on both the top and bottom, allowing it to sit securely in either mode, while allowing a touch screen you get a lot of functionality out of the system even though the physical keyboard is folded out of the way.

When closed, the Edge 15 measures 0.8 by 15 by 10.9 inches (HWD) and weighs 5.2 pounds, which is a bit much for carrying around all day, but fine for the occasional -minsang the outing or commuting to work or school. The aluminum chassis has a black finish, and hold up well to flexing. The touch screen is also very hard, holding up well against strong taps and gestures, but still moves quickly enough to position the screen without having problems.

Display with full HD (1920-by-1080) resolution and capability in 10-point touch. Resolution that is really great, many systems in this price range to settle for a resolution of 1366 by 768. With wide viewing angle and good picture quality, it is a great choice for both productive activities and recreational use. Providing entertainment to support further, the two built-in speakers are paired with Dolby sound enhancement, and offered crisp highs and lows when tested clear.

The Lenovo laptop keyboard features Accutype, and impressed me with a comfortable typing experience and the integration of both backlighting and a compact numeric pad. The number key pad is narrower than those in the regular keyboard, but it's pretty useful anyway. The accompanying touchpad also very good, with a smooth, clickable surface motion and Windows 8 support.

With the right system you will find two USB ports (one USB 3.0, USB 2.0), an HDMI output, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and a Kensington lock slot. On the left is another USB 2.0 port, a headset jack, and an SD card slot. The Edge 15 is outfitted with dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.

For storage, the laptop boasts 1TB hard drive, which will double the storage space of conflict systems, such as the Acer Aspire E5-471G-53XG $ 597.42 on Amazon and the Lenovo Flex 2, which offers only 500GB drive. On the Start screen, you'll find a smattering of pre-installed apps, such as Accuweather, eBay, Evernote, hightail, Kindle, and Zinio. The system has a free, 30-day trial of Microsoft Office and McAfee LiveSafe 365, and covers Lenovo Edge 15 with a one-year warranty.
