Aorus X7 Pro

Aorus X7 Pro
The Aorus X7 Pro ($ 2,599 as tested) is at the higher end of the price spectrum for a midrange gaming laptop, but guaranteed it its price tag by packing two sporting level Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M GPUs with a 0.9 inch-thick chassis, which is much thinner other 15- and 17-inch system. Quality testing its 3D gaming is because very good, but the streak, like a modest screen and loud fan noise, keep the system from reaching the top.

Design and Features
The X7 Pro $ 2,499.00 at Adorama is a large, black painted metal chassis, measuring about 0.9 by 17 by 12 inches (HWD) and weighs 6.75 pounds. This makes it pretty slim compared to competitors such as Digital Storm krypton, which is twice as thick, and heavier, at 9.1 pounds. Vents on the back panel of the bottom channel heat from the CPU and GPUs away from the keyboard deck, but the fans make big noise fitted with an air conditioner, even if the system is set to its default setting cooling.

The 17.3-inch screen, 1920-by-1080 resolution is the centerpiece of the laptop, and I have to say, not that wonderful. Even at full brightness, it's about as clear as a screen you want to see in a run-of-the-mill midrange laptop. If your eyes are sharp, you can see the individual pixels in the solid-colored background, which can be distracting at best; At worst, it can detract from the visual quality of the game. It is an offense for a midrange gaming system, especially considering that much nicer big screen is available for much less money, such as Y70 Lenovo Lenovo Touch $ 1,349.00.

The backlit keyboard is a mixed bag: we like the fact that you can turn off the Windows key to prevent the system from moving the Start screen during the playing session. Each current gaming convention, the WASD keys are highlighted to make them easier to find. The features include anti-ghosting means pressing multiple keys at the same time does not lead to missed input, as it does on most keyboards. But the key is smooth, with shallow strokes. Also, it's been great if the arrow keys are offset like it Asus ROG G750JZ-XS72 $ 2,399.99 on Amazon. The one-piece glass touchpad is another point of contention. It is good to know if you are clicking to the left or right keys feel alone. Separate physical keys such as those in the Digital Storm Krypton and the Razer Blade (2014) $ 1,999.00 on Amazon is easier to find and use.

Utility program lets you Aorus Command and Control to customize a plethora of functions, such as disabling SLI in order to save power, controlling the lights on the keyboard, move the fan quieter Stealth mode, the lock button of Windows, and other functions, such as turning off wireless, touchpad and USB charging port. Sure, you can do all the functions by key combos and fiddling with individual settings, but Command and Control provides you with a central control panel with visual indicator as to what is now active. Another Aorus exclusive is a row of five customizable macro keys on the left side of the keyboard. At the top of the range is a toggle color-coded, which switches the macro key among five groups, for a total of 25 virtual macro key. That way, you can set up macros for five different games, or set up 25 key grouped by functionality for complex games like flight simulators. The system has a two-year warranty, but only one year for battery.
