Dell Inspiron 14R-5437

Dell Inspiron 14R-5437
The Dell Inspiron 14R-5437 is a desktop replacement laptop that can go the distance. With a 6-cell removable battery pack and power sipping fourth-generation Intel Core i3 processor, the Inspiron 14R-5437 has the power to run for about ten hours. It was all day and night, that makes a difference for members of highly mobile students, writers, or family expects non-tethered computing. By virtue of its long battery life along with other attractive features, the Dell Inspiron 14R-5437 is our new Editor's Choice 'for entry-level desktop replacement laptop.

Design and Features
The Inspiron 14R-5437 bucks the current bright silver trend by going to (gasp!) Dark sliver aluminum finish on both the top cover and the keyboard deck. It also means that the dark key chiclet-style keyboard does not contrast with the keyboard deck, but at least label the keys' is a bright white color with a delicate sans serif font. The keyboard is not backlit, but the key feel is accurately responsive, non-oily keys. You have to hit the Fn key to use the controls like screen brightness or volume up / down, but that's relatively minor nit.

The trackpad below the keyboard is wide enough for use multi-touch, and with two physical mouse button. While the trackpad is responsive, you may find yourself reaching out to hit the 10-point touch screen, which is a more natural way to deal with the Windows 8 Start screen and Win 8 UI optimized apps . The system has a rock solid screen, thanks to the dual hinge design, the Inspiron 14R 5437's. It makes a huge difference when you use the touch screen, as a bouncy screen quickly becomes annoying.

14-inch screen of the system with 1366-by-768 resolution, which is less than 1600 by 900 Editors Choice "entry-level Lenovo IdeaPad U430 ultrabook winning Touch. However, a 1366 by 768 resolution acceptable for entry-level laptop, and the Inspiron 14R-one in 5437 is clear, with smooth color gradients anyway. Screen of the system is enough for 720p HD video and use word processing. The system measures about 1.3 by 13.75 by 9.75 inches (HWD) and weighs in at 4.93 pounds. It is a bit larger and about a pound heavier than the Lenovo U430 Touch, but it's a smidge thinner and lighter than our last Editors Choice 'for entry-level desktop replacement laptop, the Lenovo IdeaPad Z400 Touch. The Inspiron 14R-5437 is lighter than another rival desktop replacement, the Acer Aspire M5-583P-6428 also.

The Inspiron 14R-5437 has an Intel Core processor with Intel i3-4010U HD Graphics 4400, 4GB of system memory, and a 500GB hard drive. The system does not come a cache solid state drives (SSD), which can help to benchmark the system and overall performance (see below for more). On the other hand, it will give an opportunity to sell Dell Inspiron 14R-5437 for less than other systems such as the Lenovo U430 Touch.

The system has a 65 WHr 6-cell battery, which is removable. It bucks the trend ultrabook, the cost of a little extra chassis thickness. As you can see below, the extra heft is worth it. If you decide to keep the laptop for more than 5-7 years many people do to change their PC, you can switch to a new battery easy once one has given up the ghost.

The system has some pre-loaded apps, notably eBay, Skype, Amazone, and Kindle, but the system is far from being overloaded with them. You'll see far more pre-loaded titles in other retail systems such as the HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15z-b000 Sleekbook. The Inspiron 14R-5437 has a standard one-year warranty.
